We keep the past alive and carry it with us into the future; not for us but for the generations that follow us. We dance, sing, and practice the ways of our grandfathers. We try to hold onto the teaching we have received, so we do not forget but have more riches to carry with us into the future. We are involved in many organizations and are spread from big water to big water. You can visit us in our ancestral home on the shore, or visit our brother on the western shore. While there, you can see that our brothers and sisters are not idle but support the plains people. If one thinks that Tipis are a thing of the past, visit our brother on the opposite shore. Also, we proudly join with our sister in the eNativeSpirit.com web site specializing in beautiful Native items. Come and visit us when we are at a Pow Wow.
In September we were honored to be part of the opening ceremony for the American Indian Museum in Washington D.C. We were part of the procession and stayed for the many festivities. Below are a few of us just prior to the beginning or the procession.

We made our initial application to Maryland for state recognition and we are gathering the Pocomoke people together. We held our first Pow Wow in 1994 and cooperated when our brothers, the Accohannock, wished to become separate. And now we reach out to those of our blood and our brothers from other nations. We look forward to a time when the Pocomokes. the Nanticokes, the Assateague, and the Accohannocks can dance as brothers and sisters in the circle and we leave you with this:
