The Pocomoke, Manokin, and Annemessex Rivers, their watersheds and hinterlands and along coastal bays, covering Somerset County and portions of Wicomico and Worcester Counties, Maryland.

Historical information about the Pocomoke Indian Nation

Identified in early colonial records as Quandanquan, Morumsco, Manoakin, Nuswattax, Acquintica, and Annemessex. Historically, the Pocomoke Indian Nation’s territory likely extended into Accomac County, Virginia. A palisaded town of the Pocomoke People appears on John Smith’s map on land that is now present-day Accomac County.
